My machine was completely fine last week, but now it is missing stitches every few inches. I am using cotton fabric and I have already rethreaded it twice, but the problem is still there. I have an order to finish this week and I'm getting worried.
ONSA's Answer
An order deadline makes a problem like this feel a lot bigger than it usually is, so let's go through it in order. Before assuming anything serious, check that the needle is actually the right type for cotton and sitting straight — a needle that's ever so slightly bent will do exactly this. Rethread both the top and the bobbin properly, even though you've already done it twice; it's worth doing slowly rather than quickly the third time. If a completely fresh needle doesn't fix it either, that's the point to stop sewing on it and get it looked at, rather than pushing through the deadline and risking the fabric.
