We live in Salem and I have one spare room that I want to turn into my stitching space. My husband says I should first try from home before spending money on a shop, which makes sense, but I am worried customers may not take a home boutique seriously.
ONSA's Answer
Your husband's instinct is a good one — a spare room is more than enough to find out whether this works before you spend real money on a shop. Plenty of boutiques that now have proper storefronts started in exactly this kind of space; customers care far more about whether your work is good and your communication is reliable than about the size of the room it was made in. Keep the space organised and treat your orders professionally from day one, and 'home boutique' stops feeling like a lesser version of the real thing. A commercial space can always come later, once the business itself has actually proven it needs one.
